           Infant Baptism

Baptism Schedule:

St. John  Parish conducts infant Baptisms by  appointment on Sunday

afternoons at 1:00 PM.  Parents of the child to be baptized must schedule

the Baptism in advance after attending the parish's program of instruction.

Pre-Baptism Instruction:

A pre-Baptism course of instruction for all parents seeking Baptism

for their children is a requirement of St. John Parish.

The instruction is given on a  Sunday evening once each month ,

approximately 7:00 PM to 9 PM.  We discuss the meaning of Baptism

and the role of parents in their children's spiritual development.

A short video reviews  the rite of Baptism, and examines the meaning

of each element of the rite, and discusses the role of both parents and godparents.

The course of instruction is led by Fr. Mark and a group of several women of

the parish.

Class Schedule:

Please see the weekly parish Bulletin for the scheduled class of the month.

Please do not plan your infant’s Baptism until after attending the class.

Both parents should attend, if possible, and godparents are also encouraged

 to attend. Babies are welcome.

Before attending the pre-Baptism instruction, parents must call the Parish Office

at 635-5590 and complete a brief questionnaire.

The Baptism will be scheduled once the parents have registered with the parish,

and attended the pre-Baptism class.

 Requirements for Godparents:

a. Age 16 or older
b. Confirmed
c. One male and one female
d. Both must be Christians
e. At least one must be a practicing Catholic

Catholic godparents must obtain a Sponsor Certificate from the parish they

attend indicating that they are registered members, practicing Catholics

and qualified to act as a godparent for Baptism.
